A "broad spectrum" network generator - from regular to scale-free in one easy step

Archway 2 - 1:00 pm, Friday 28 August

Many processes (both natural and artificial) operate upon an underlying network structure. The topology of this network can have a significant impact on the overall behaviour of the process. It is therefore important to analyse these systems under a range of network configurations. This talk will examine a network generator, dubbed preferential rewiring, that enables a range of different network structures to be generated through variation of a single parameter. We will examine the basic properties of this method, and highlight some recent work that uses it to analyse the behaviour of network-oriented processes under a range of topologies.
