The role of a University is changing. The way that Universities are being funded is changing. In particular, there is an emphasis on economic growth through closer links between the academic world and industry/commerce. These factors may encourage us to explore new opportunities and to think about how we can reorganize activities that strengthen such links.
This seminar will look at some factors that are changing the way in which universities within New Zealand operate, highlight new opportunities for research and delivery of expertise and make some specific suggestions as to organizational changes within Departments to exploit these opportunities and present some case studies that show how academic expertise can be delivered.
